FILM 101 — Introduction to Film Studies(3 cr.)

Introduces the formal elements of film language, including editing, sound, and mise-en-scene. Screenings draw from a range of national cinemas and historical periods.

FILM 110 — Introduction to Digital Media Production(3 cr.)

Hands-on introduction to camera operation, sound recording, and nonlinear editing. Students complete a series of short digital projects across the semester.

FILM 215 — History of World Cinema(3 cr.)

Surveys major movements in international film history, from early silent cinema through contemporary global filmmaking. Emphasis on the relationship between film style and historical context.

FILM 230 — Screenwriting I(3 cr.)

Workshop in narrative screenwriting focusing on structure, character, and dialogue for short-form scripts. Students complete and revise an original screenplay.

Examines the history and ethics of nonfiction filmmaking alongside practical exercises in documentary production. Topics include observational, expository, and participatory modes.
