HLTH 101 — Introduction to Health Sciences(3 cr.)

Surveys the health professions and the structure of the health care system in the United States. Introduces core concepts in public health and clinical practice.

HLTH 110 — Personal and Community Health(3 cr.)

Examines the behavioral and environmental determinants of individual and community health. Topics include chronic disease prevention, mental health, and health disparities.

HLTH 210 — Human Anatomy and Physiology I(4 cr.)

First course in a two-semester sequence covering the structure and function of the human body. Weekly laboratory sessions include cadaver and model-based study.

HLTH 211 — Human Anatomy and Physiology II(4 cr.)

Continues the study of human body systems, including cardiovascular, respiratory, and reproductive physiology. Laboratory work builds on skills developed in the first course.

Covers the biochemical and physiological basis of human nutrition across the lifespan. Emphasis on evaluating dietary guidelines and nutrition-related disease prevention.

Introduces the study of disease patterns and risk factors within populations. Students learn to interpret and critique epidemiological study designs.

HLTH 330 — Biostatistics for Health Sciences(3 cr.)

Introduces statistical methods commonly used in health research, including hypothesis testing and regression. Emphasis on interpreting results from the public health literature.

Explores theoretical models used to explain and change health-related behavior. Students design a health promotion intervention for a selected population.
