SWRK 101 — Introduction to Social Work(3 cr.)

Overview of the social work profession, its values, and its role in addressing social problems. Students are introduced to the major fields of social work practice. Ethical principles guiding the profession are examined throughout.

SWRK 150 — Human Behavior and the Social Environment I(3 cr.)

Study of individual development across the lifespan within the context of family and community systems. Biopsychosocial frameworks are introduced for understanding human behavior. Case studies illustrate the interaction of person and environment.

SWRK 210 — Social Welfare Policy(3 cr.)

Examination of the history and structure of the American social welfare system. Students analyze how policy decisions affect vulnerable populations. Current policy debates are examined through a social justice lens.

SWRK 250 — Human Behavior and the Social Environment II(3 cr.)

Continued study of human behavior with emphasis on groups, organizations, and communities. Systems theory is applied to understand larger-scale social dynamics. Builds directly on concepts from the introductory course in the sequence.

SWRK 310 — Social Work Practice I(3 cr.)

Introduction to generalist practice skills, including interviewing, assessment, and intervention planning with individuals and families. Role-play exercises build core practice competencies. Ethical decision-making is emphasized throughout.

SWRK 340 — Social Work Practice II(3 cr.)

Continued development of generalist practice skills with a focus on groups and communities. Students apply intervention models to case scenarios drawn from practice settings. Builds on skills developed in the first practice course.

SWRK 410 — Field Practicum I(4 cr.)

Supervised field placement in a social service agency providing direct practice experience under an approved field instructor. Students integrate classroom learning with real client interaction. Weekly seminar supports reflection on field experiences.

SWRK 495 — Senior Field Practicum II(4 cr.)

Continued supervised field placement with increased responsibility and independence in client-facing work. A capstone portfolio documents growth in professional competencies. Serves as the culminating field experience before graduation.

SWRK 520 — Advanced Clinical Practice(3 cr.)

Graduate-level study of clinical intervention models for individuals, couples, and families. Students practice advanced assessment and treatment planning skills. Designed for students pursuing clinical licensure.

Graduate seminar on research methods used to evaluate social work interventions and programs. Students design a program evaluation proposal for an agency setting. Emphasis is placed on using data to improve practice outcomes.
