GERM 101 — Elementary German I(4 cr.)

Introduces basic German grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation for beginning students. Classroom activities emphasize practical communication skills.

GERM 102 — Elementary German II(4 cr.)

Continues foundational language study with an expanded grammar base and introductory reading passages. Builds toward functional conversational ability.

GERM 201 — Intermediate German I(3 cr.)

Reviews core grammar while introducing authentic texts and cultural topics from the German-speaking world. Conducted primarily in German.

GERM 202 — Intermediate German II(3 cr.)

Completes the intermediate sequence with emphasis on discussion, composition, and cultural analysis. Prepares students for upper-division literature and culture courses.

GERM 310 — German Conversation and Composition(3 cr.)

Develops advanced fluency through structured discussion, debate, and formal writing assignments. Topics draw on current events and contemporary German media.

GERM 340 — Survey of German Literature(3 cr.)

Introduces major authors and literary movements from the German-speaking tradition. Discussion and analysis are conducted in German.
