JAPN 101 — Elementary Japanese I(4 cr.)

Introduces hiragana, katakana, and basic grammar alongside everyday conversational patterns. Emphasis on building listening and speaking confidence from the first class.

JAPN 102 — Elementary Japanese II(4 cr.)

Continues foundational study with introductory kanji and expanded grammatical structures. Students practice short conversations and guided writing exercises.

JAPN 201 — Intermediate Japanese I(3 cr.)

Builds on elementary grammar with more complex sentence structures and an expanding kanji base. Introduces authentic reading materials on everyday topics.
