Department of Japanese

The Japanese program develops proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing alongside an introduction to Japanese culture and society. Instruction emphasizes practical communication from the first semester, with kanji literacy built progressively across the sequence. Students are encouraged to pursue exchange opportunities with the university's partner institutions in Japan.
