LATN 101 — Elementary Latin I(4 cr.)

Introduces the fundamentals of Latin grammar, vocabulary, and sentence structure. Emphasis on developing translation skills from the earliest lessons.

LATN 102 — Elementary Latin II(4 cr.)

Continues foundational grammar study while introducing adapted passages from classical authors. Builds toward independent translation of connected prose.

LATN 201 — Intermediate Latin: Prose Authors(3 cr.)

Applies grammar fundamentals to the reading of unadapted Latin prose, such as Caesar or Cicero. Emphasis on vocabulary building and syntactic analysis.

LATN 202 — Intermediate Latin: Poetry(3 cr.)

Introduces the reading of Latin poetry, including selections from Ovid or Virgil, with attention to meter and poetic devices. Continues development of translation fluency.
