Hartwell Library
Hartwell Library sits at the physical and intellectual heart of Southgate's campus, housing more than 900,000 volumes, extensive digital collections, and dedicated research help for every college. Its Special Collections and University Archives hold the university's founding records, regional history materials, and personal papers donated by alumni and Averton-area families dating back to the 1890s.
During the academic year, Hartwell Library is open until 2:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, with 24-hour access available during final exam periods. Research librarians offer walk-in and scheduled consultations, and the library's ground-floor Collaboration Commons provides group study rooms, a media lab, and quiet study areas.
