Department of Astronomy

College of Arts & Sciences

The Astronomy program pairs classroom study of the physical universe with hands-on observation using the university's rooftop observatory and remote-access telescopes. Small class sizes allow students to participate directly in faculty research on stellar evolution and exoplanet detection. The department is a popular home for double majors pairing astronomy with physics or data science.

Courses & Registration

Course descriptions for all ASTR offerings are in the university catalog; scheduled sections for each term are published in SU‑SIS. This department has 15 class sections scheduled for Fall 2026.
